AboutOfficial Site: http://www.eyesonme.org.uk/Founded by its director Stephen Shellard BA(Mus) ARCM LRSM, Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir was formed in late 1998 and is made up of 30 - 34 men and women who come from across the Worcester diocese and beyond. Its first official engagement was to sing Choral Evensong in the Cathedral in February 1999, followed by the services for Palm Sunday in March 1999. It's first concert was given in Worcester Cathedral Chapter House in October 1999. In March 2000 for its first major Cathedral concert the choir performed J.S. Bach's St John Passion with Worcester Cathedral Choir and the Westminster Chamber Orchestra conducted by Stephen Shellard. Other works in the repertoire include Vivaldi's Gloria, Fauré's Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs, Duruflé's Requiem, Handel's Dixit Dominus, performed with Warwick based authentic instrument ensemble, Armonico Tributoand most recently Handel's Messiah with the Orchestra of the Baroque. At the last two Worcester Three Choirs Festivals the choir has sung Evensong and, during the 2002 Festival gave a concert as part of the Fringe which received a very favourable review in the September 2002 edition of The Organ magazine. (See the GENERAL page) The choir has also sung in several other churches in the diocese as well as regular services in Worcester Cathedral where it frequently sings Choral Evensong in the Cathedral usually on the last Thursday of the month. In 2002 the choir made its first recording - a CD of Christmas Carols, ‘Sing! Choirs of Angels’. A new CD, "JERUSALEM - Favourite Hymns and Anthems" was recorded in March and April 2004 and was released at a concert in St Martin's London Road Worcester on 3rd July. In April 2003 the choir made an acclaimed weekend tour to Dublin where it gave a performance of Duruflé's Requiem in St. Bartholomew's Church and sang Evensong in St. Patrick's Cathedral.
