Build Your Baby's Brain II: Through the Power of Mozart
Release Date: May 04, 1999 SFK61721 CD Album Researchers have demonstrated what's known by every parent: infants love music. In the first year, a baby's brain develops faster than at any other time, and sound and music play significant roles in a newborn's intellectual and emotional development. As a follow up to the great collection, Build Your Baby's Brain -- Through the Power of Music (SK 60815), the music of Mozart and Mozart alone is featured in a new compilation that is programmed to stimulate the mind and, after repeated listenings, will ultimately give your little one an advantage in this fast paced and competitive society. What is "The Mozart Effect"? Using students in a study at the University of California at Irvine, three researchers -- Dr. Frances H. Rauscher, Dr. Gordon L. Shaw and Katherine N. Ky -- found scores on a standard intelligence test increased an average of 8 or 9 points immediately after listening to Mozart's Sonata for 2 Pianos, as performed by Murray Perahia and Radu Lupu (SK 39511). Even the scores of some students who said they didn't like Mozart dramatically improved after listening. No such gain occurred after they heard a relaxation tape or simply sat in silence. The researchers think that Mozart's music may cause "neural firing patterns in the brain," and that his musical structures aid the thinking processes. Why not start your baby off the "intelligent" way, with Build Your Baby's Brain -- Through the Power of Mozart, which features performances from the Sony Classical catalog by George Szell, Tafelmusik, Pinchas Zukerman, Robert Casadesus and more. What they're saying about Build Your Baby's Brain: "I heard this CD while babysitting one day and I fell in love with it! I have always been a fan of Mozart, but there are so many selections when I go to buy CD's that I could not get the exact match of the compositions that I liked. This is a great CD for anyone." -- A music fan from Bellevue, WA, April 1999 "My kids love this CD. My three-year-old pretends to conduct and my eight-month-old gets a kick out of the whole experience. This in turn creates enjoyment for the whole family. For now, the important thing is exposure; this CD is wonderful for serving that purpose!!!" -- A music fan from Charlottesville, VA, July 1999 |
