AboutCelebrated through Europe and South America for over 20 years, singer/songwriter Riccardo Cocciante marks his first appearance on the Sony Classical label in Christmas in Vienna V, a multiformat audio and video release (CD, video, DVD; SK/ST/SM 60244) that also stars Placido Domingo, Sarah Brightman and Helmut Lotti. Since 1994, Riccardo Cocciante has recorded numerous albums with Sony Music, where his multilingual talents -- he sings in English, Spanish and French, as well as Italian -- brought him to the charts in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Greece. In 1995, Sony released the album L'amore across Europe to great popular acclaim and also released in France L'Instant présent, which featured Cocciante working in collaboration with Leonardo De Amicia and included two new songs Cocciante composed with the Canadian writer Luc Plamondon. For the Christmas celebrations in 1995, Cocciante was invited to the Vatican, where he performed his own composition, Ave Maria, with the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia and its choir. In the spring of 1998, Sony Music released Cocciante's latest album, entitled Innamorato, in Italy, reaffirming Cocciante's place among the finest interpreters of the Italian love song. |
