This year marks the 50th anniversary of the original Broadway production.

Bonus track: overture from the 1958 Lehman Engel collection "Curtain Going Up", featuring ten previously unrecorded Broadway overtures. In the original release of Kiss Me, Kate, as well as this edition, the entr'acte music (the music which precedes Act Two) was put at the beginning of the recording, in place of the overture. On this version the previously deleted overture (recorded ten years later by a different orchestra) is included at the end as a bonus track. Liner notes by Miles Kreuger.

Kiss Me Kate opened at the New Century Theatre on December 30, 1948 and ran for 1,077 performances before closing at the Schubert Theatre on July 28, 1951
