Highlights of the CD include Yo-Yo Ma performing "Fancy on a Bach Air" for unaccompanied cello -- a work inspired by the solo cello suites of the great composer, and "Phantasmagoria" for cello and piano, a work based on Corigliano's landmark opera The Ghosts of Versailles. Pianist James Tocco performs "Etude Fantasy" on the album. Corigliano's score to The Red Violin (SK 63010) received the 1999 Academy Award® for Best Original Score. |
